Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.’ ~ John 14:5
A definition of a ‘Christian’ does not mean you are a ‘Christian’ if you happen to be a member of a specific denomination, faithfully attend church or a citizen of a particular ‘Christian’ nation. Self-effort and good works don’t automatically confirm that you are a ‘Christian’ either. What is does confirm is that self is on the throne and that you possess a sin nature.
Romans 3:22-24 ~ God puts people right through their faith in Jesus Christ. God does this to all who believe in Christ, because there is no difference at all: everyone has sinned and is far away from God’s saving presence. But by the free gift of God’s grace all are put right with him through Christ Jesus, who sets them free.
Therefore, does parking in a garage make you are car? Does living in another culture make you a native resident? By no means! A ‘Christian’ by true definition is an individual who has made a profession of faith by agreeing with God that they are a sinner in grave need, recognizing that Christ is the only way, truth, life; surrendering to Christ and proclaiming him as their personal Savior and LORD.
Christianity is not a religion … it is a relationship!
