Josh - Bible ReadingPATH

Many an unfortunate gem, an untimely circumstance will cross our path, jump into our reality without warning only to emerge as an opportunity from the enemy to derail, bring forth havoc, make a plan of destruction toward your soul. God has a different plan, a PATH for those interruptions per se.

Death to self is not easy and those interruptions are certainly not the end of our story! The best of our story is yet to be revealed and God always gives a way of escape. Christ is our plumb-line and example. Note His dependence on the Father while living life on this side of eternity. And for us… Greater is He that lives in us than he who is in the world. Though hard to understand, nothing comes our way that isn’t first filtered through God’s fingers of love. We are called first to surrender every aspect of our lives to God, regardless! God’s WORD is the PATH!

The poem below was written after the loss of a dream, then encountering less than desirable consequences due to the economic crash upon returning to the US after 2 years of living in India.

After many less than perfect experiences…
you’ve memorized the flesh pattern,
a PATH around the pain;
that stumble, a debilitating fumble,
feeling nothing, yet something, a stain to gain.

You think you’ve figured it out…
how to navigate through the dark,
that familiar PATH remark;
each time with each new bruise,
losing more, not less, that colorful spark.

It’s like…
losing more and feeling less hope,
a loss in confidence;
in losing a defined purpose,
though reacting as if painless.

It’s like…
in the make of a decision,
based on what hurt the least;
an avoidance, an interaction,
struggling in silence yet without peace.

It’s like…
burying all the stuff,
stuff you know you should face;
and sensing God a pursuing,
a messy unraveling, yet cleansing the chase.

It’s like…
your family and your friends,
and they’ve actually tried;
truth is and they’ve been there,
to help as you have cried.

It’s like…
when life becomes more painful,
and relationships ever stressful;
and more not less confusing,
wounds a ooze take on a bruising.

It’s like…
life is strenuous, and harder,
diminished and not brighter;
its darker, not lighter,
blinded by perception the persistent fighter.

It’s like…
a new reality, it unfolds,
an allowing, Jesus, His light into your room;
not nothing but something changes,
your soul is now consumed.

You look…
its truth, providing,
the preferred PATH;
it’s knocking, you see, an escape,
the living WORD within your grasp!

It’s like…
an answered prayer, swiftly,
it speaks, it sings with authority;
entering, it whispers,
proclaiming, revealing a different story.

It’s like…
Yes, its God,
a thundering, stepping in the fractured scene;
declaring, imparting,
redemption, a new story to be seen.

It’s like…
the soul,
its enemy, its gone;
it’s not a dream,
but truth, His glory, totally dead on.

It’s like…
temptation, it comes,
sin inviting, glaring, and all at once staring;
but ending, not being,
and not too much to bear.

It’s like…
Christ, my sufficiency, sufficiently providing,
the narrow road, a Jesus PATH;
an escape,
escaping without denying.

It’s like…
finally forsaking, embracing, an unfortunate gem,
and seeking, truth portraying;
now giving thanks, praising, and in all things,
even as one has been betrayed.

It’s like…
His grace, intended for all,
its about surrender, surrendering to Christ,
is redemption, confession, resurrection, preferring His PATH,
a choice, and wearing, bearing of the Cross.

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. (1 John 4:4)

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119:105)
