ACT, LOVE, WALK
Found this treasure at Chip and JoAnna Gaines Magnolia Market. Bought it because it’s just one of many verses from the Bible I love but especially a favorite because we named our youngest son from where it’s found, the OT book of Micah. It now rests just outside our front door to welcome friends, family, hopefully new friends to be since moving back to Texas, and a reminder: “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.”
Pondering afresh what it means to “act justly”… to live with a greater sense of right and wrong (Micah 2:1-2; 3:1-3; 6:11); “love mercy”… to show love for our fellow man and be loyal in our love toward God, just as God has been loyal to us (Micah 2:8-9; 3:10-11; 6:12); “walk humbly”… that it describes a heart attitude toward God, that we are to depend on Him rather than our own abilities (Micah 2:3). The response of a godly heart is outward (do justice), inward (love mercy), and upward (walk humbly).
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)
