As I gaze upon this picture which was taken in Haiti while participating on a medical-prayer mission outreach, I’m reminded once again of the true peace that only comes in and through Christ. Apart from his saving grace, a renewed mind, allowing Jesus to bring freedom from wounds and destructive thinking, strongholds can easily form and take root.
Thought I’d share a poem I wrote in 2010 which says it all.
is a negative pattern of thought,
which is caught, thus bought,
will invade, cave,
does enslave and has made,
a hold upon my heart.
But the truth…
is Christ in and through me,
his flowing stream of life in me,
a redemptive mind renewed and kind,
set free at once to believe and see.
is God the Father,
our Father God,
letting go and of his begotten Son,
His provision and our reconciliation,
in and through the Cross,
in and because of Christ.
CHRIST in me,
is that sacred perpetual chase,
which will choose and to face,
the throw, and of a potential fatal blow,
the blow, and of a deceptive lethal lie,
but only to say a final good-bye.
is simply bye to the lies,
a destructive lie that was sought,
briefly caught and feverously fought,
yet quickly gave way to an empty thought.
And freedom to embrace…
is me choosing the truth,
capturing, being His living proof,
mindful to take a thought captive,
and for every captive thought,
bring to His Throne to wash in mercy,
for in and through His grace,
is my redemption a safe place.
For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For our weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete. (2 Corinthians 10:3-6)
He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. (Colossians 1:13-20)
